Six months and counting...

The countdown has begun! I am so excited to not only be crewing the 3 Day in Dallas this year, but to also walk in San Diego with my mom and big sister Dana (by choice!), with Charlene (Mom 2.0) cheering us on. This will mark my 3rd year in a row to participate in the 3 Day, and the amazing essence of this event is hard to define. Over the next six months, my goal is blog about the training leading up to this event.....yes there is training involved to walk 60 miles in 3 days....and I also hope to spread some awareness on the cause and why I walk.

For those who are new to the 3 Day concept, it's an annual event that occurs in 14 cities around the nation. Walkers from near and far walk a 60 mile journey spread out over 3 days. To be eligible to participate in the event, a walk must raise at least $2,300 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, no small task! Each event is supported by a large team of volunteers (I think we had roughly 400 volunteers in Dallas last year), who do everything from serving walkers breakfast/lunch/dinner, to helping set up/organize the tent city, and caring for walkers in the medical tent.

Any who that's a brief overview, more to come....time for some delicious homemade pizza for dinner!

It's May 1st and the blog is up!

After spending some time trying to figure out how to make this page my own, I'm finally happy! 17 days from now marks 6 months until I will walk the Breast Cancer 3 Day in San Diego with some of the most important women in my life. Here's to hoping my ankle gets better ASAP so I can start training.
